As an applicant for an IC&RC credential, the Tennessee Certification Board will collect and retain personal and information about you—throughout the application process and during your period of certification. Any personal information collected during the application phase is stored safely and securely and will not be shared with any party other than for matters solely pertaining to administration of your credential. Below are a few other items regarding your information privacy:
As part of the application process, all applicants are required to submit to be fingerprinted, as part of a background check. Your fingerprints will be used to check the criminal history records of the FBI.
As an applicant who is the subject of a national fingerprint-based criminal history record check for a noncriminal justice purpose (e.g. professional credentialing), you have certain rights. As an agency who requires the background check of our applicants, we (TCB) have agency requirements we must adhere to as well. Both applicant privacy rights and agency privacy requirements are outlined in detail in the attached documentation below.
All records of background checks received by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) are stored securely in compliance with TBI's records retention and deletion guidelines. The TCB undergoes an audit of sensitive information storage to ensure we are in compliance with TBI policies.
You are applying for an internationally-recognized credential through the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC). As such, we (TCB) are required to provide reports upon initial certification and annual reports on certified professionals in Tennessee.
During the application process, we collect your email address, which we use to send automatic notifications regarding your credential status and re-certification. We also use your email address to send important periodic updates about upcoming training and other information pertinent to the CPS credential. At no time will TCB ever sell or share your contact information with anyone outside the scope of direct administration of your credential.
This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
No person, on the basis of race, color, or national origin will be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any TCB program.
